Around 6% of the world’s energy and 14% of the world’s electricity is produced by nuclear power. There are 400 nuclear reactors across the world providing power to 31 countries. Nuclear energy even powers Mars rovers missions. In comparison to fossil fuels which emit poisonous gases like carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which create acid rain and can lead to global warming nuclear energy does not have such side effects. Though disposal of radioactive waste is still a widely debated and grey area, there is no denying the benefits of nuclear energy for the good of mankind.
